Marshall Block
Marshall Block has been a musician since he picked up the guitar at age 17. He has been playing ever since, including the bands that played at The Grande Ballroom.
Congratulations are in order for three “best” albums of the year. The Chenille Sisters “In the Christmas Spirit”, best seasonal recording of the year 2000, AFIM (The Association for Independent Music), Greg Richards “The Hired Gun Project”, best adult contemporary album of the year 2011, NMW (New Music Weekly), and Keyna Darling, “Zero to Ten”, breakthrough country artist of the year 2006, NMW.
Marshall attended Wayne State University where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree – Biology (1971), and then attained a Masters of Science in 1978. To make money while in school, he played guitar at local venues. In 1993, he began investing in recording equipment while producing music on the side. By 1995, upon developing his studio and discovering that music is his true passion, Marshall quit his academic career to become a full-time record producer and owner of Real II Reel Productions.
Marshall’s Real II Reel recordings are featured in many television productions and movies: 90210, the Fighter starring Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg, the Love Guru starring Mike Meyers and Jessica Alba & Justin Timberlake, the Dwegans & Leprechauns, Sons of Tucson, Entrance by Stephen King, the Shameless Marshall co-produced Kenya Darling’s album and helped propel her career to New Music Weekly’s Breakthrough Country Artist of the Year. Real II Reel recorded the reprisal version of Just Like Romeo and Juliet by The Reflections. This recording has since earned a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
